We originally met Nadine several years ago when she came into the studio for a cover up tattoo from Sean! Over the years, she has been back to the studio a number of times and it has been a pleasure to see her artwork develop to the standard that you see today.
Nadine grew up in Norfolk, East Anglia and was inspired by her local history from a young age. Growing up in an area where such cultures as the Iceni once roamed and the rebellion of Boudicca brewed was a major factor in her love of history. Due to its geography, East Anglia is a bit of a treasure trove for historical sites and burials from the Iron Age all the way through to the late Viking age (Sutton Hoo, West Stow, Norwich Castle, Pentney to name but a few). It was generally the first place in Britain that would be settled including by the Germanic tribes from across the North Sea, who then went on to be collectively known as the Anglo-Saxons.
Viking raids and expeditions also brought new artistic and cultural influences later on in the Dark Ages and Nadine’s interest in artwork from this period was later reinforced by a visit to the York museum where she was in awe of the sheer intricacy and detail on items like the Coppergate Helmetand this became the catalyst for Nadine to try her hand at knotwork.
Nadine is available for commission design work for clients who are unable to travel to our studio in Wales. For more information, please get in touch here.
